Queen Letizia of Spain looked polished in a purple suit as she joined King Felipe at the country’s annual School of the Year Awards.

The queen, 48, sported a striking lilac Hugo Boss suit with matching Hugo Boss Mayfair Pumps and a co-ordinating lilac top for the outing in Tui, northeast Spain.

Her husband, King Felipe VI, 53, opted for a classic cut suit with a blue shirt and patterned blue tie to match.

The couple were on hand to award the title to a local school, CRA Mestra Clara Torres, in recognition for its achievements.

The Spanish royals watched closely over some young students as they ate their lunch and chatted to them about their school

The couple travelled to the public school in Tui, Galicia to hand out the award to the management of the early childhood education centre.

Queen Letizia opted for a minimal, fresh makeup look and accompanied the ensemble by pairing with some small gold earrings.

The couple were welcomed by well wishers and talked with school officials as they started their tour of the education centre.

The Spanish royals both stopped to talk to the young students as they went about their school activities, and then invited some to join them on stage for the award ceremony. 

The awards are organised by The Princess of Girona Foundation, which named His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain as the honorary chairman on behalf of his daughter, Princess Leonor.

Princess Leonor recently reunited with her family for the first time since leaving for a Welsh boarding school back in August.

The 15-year-old heir to the throne has been studying at UWC Atlantic College in Wales since September, but headed home for a week of down time with her loved ones during half term, with classes resuming on November 1. 

Over the weekend Queen Letizia of Spain joined her lookalike daughters for a trip to Santa Maria del Puerto de Somiedo.

The family were visiting Santa Maria del Puerto de Somiedo, which has been honoured as the 2021 Best Asturian Village, the day after the ‘Princesa de Asturias’ Awards 

Princess Leonor, 15, and Infanta Sofía, 14, joined their parents on the day out.
