Queen Mary of Denmark is elegant in nautical stripes as she joins King Frederik for annual summer cruise

Queen Mary of Denmark put on a stylish display as she joined King Frederik X for the Danish monarch’s annual summer cruise on Monday.

After Frederik’s ascension to the throne on January 14 of this year, this is the first summer that he and Mary are participating in the outing aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog as King and Queen.

Last year, it was Frederik’s mother, Queen Margarethe, 84, who completed the boat tour.

Queen Mary, 52, chose a nautical-inspired look for the occasion in Bornholm, which saw her greet children waving Danish flags, while Frederik opted for full navy uniform, recalling his days as rear admiral in the navy.

The beaming Queen wore a cream and navy striped tunic with gold buttons and a pair of navy, wide-leg trousers.

She styled the tunic with a lace-trimmed, cotton blouse by French fashion brand Paul & Joe and added some height to her silhouette with Jimmy Choo’s ‘Romy 100’ navy suede pumps, priced at £650.

The glamorous royal accessorised her outfit with a navy hat by milliner Jane Taylor, who’s based in London, as well as striking jewellery in gold and silver, and embellished with diamonds.

Her long, brown hair could be seen beneath her hat and the royal’s radiant complexion was enhanced with a slick of lipstick.

Queen Mary’s hoop earrings were designed by Danish fine jeweller Sophie Bille Brahe while both her gold and diamond bracelet and her tennis bracelet were from Danish brand Dulong Finer Jewelry.

She also wore a gold and diamond ring on her right hand, which was designed by Copenhagen-based Atelier Notkin.

The three-day cruise, which runs from August 19-22, saw the royal couple visit Bornholm, a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, 105 miles southeast of Copenhagen.

Before greeting the children who were waving the national flag, Queen Mary received a bouquet of flowers from a young boy dressed in a suit jacket, shorts and trainers.

Earlier this month, Queen Mary attended the Paris Olympics, looking cool in an all-white ensemble as she attended an equestrian event.

The royal, who stepped out without her husband, was snapped watching the Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle at the Chateau de Versailles in France.

Australian-born monarch Queen Mary cut a chic figure in an unbuttoned frilly white sleeveless shirt and matching sunhat. She completed the look with a pair of blacked out sunglasses and minimal gold jewellery.

Her make-up was subtle, featuring only a smidge of pink lipgloss, while she rocked a natural glow accentuated by the sizzling sun.

Meanwhile, her highlighted brunette locks were styled in natural waves and fell from beneath her hat to lay delicately on her shoulders.

Unfortunately for Mary, Denmark missed out on medals coming in fifth, with Germany taking both the Gold and Silver spots and Great Britain coming in third.

The royal appeared to be deeply engrossed as she watched the event, accompanied by her friend Helle Trolle, a Danish textile designer.

She seemed relaxed in the stands, soaking up the sun, and appearing to have fun alongside the other spectators.
