Queen Mary of Denmark looks cool in white as she attends the Olympic Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle race in Paris

Queen Mary of Denmark looked cool in an all-white ensemble as she attended an equestrian event at the Olympics today.

The royal, 52, who stepped out without her husband King Frederik X, was snapped watching the Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle at the Chateau de Versailles in France.

Australian-born monarch Queen Mary cut a chic figure in an unbuttoned frilly white sleeveless shirt and matching sunhat. She completed the look with a pair of blacked out sunglasses and minimal gold jewellery.

Her make-up was subtle, featuring only a smidge of pink lipgloss, while she rocked a natural glow accentuated by the sizzling sun.

Meanwhile, her highlighted brunette locks were styled in natural waves and fell from beneath her hat to lay delicately on her shoulders.

Unfortunately for Mary, Denmark missed out on medals coming in fifth, with Germany taking both the Gold and Silver spots and Great Britain coming in third.

The royal appeared to be deeply engrossed as she watched the event, accompanied by her friend Helle Trolle, a Danish textile designer.

She seemed relaxed in the stands, soaking up the sun, and appearing to have fun alongside the other spectators.

Her appearance today followed her watching yesterday’s Dressage Team Grand Prix Special, which was also held at the Chateau de Versailles.

The Queen, who looked typically stylish, was accompanied by Princess Benedikte, 80, the aunt of Mary’s husband King Frederik, and younger sister of Denmark’s former monarch Queen Margrethe, 84, who abdicated earlier this year.

Mary cut a stylish figure in a blazer in Denmark’s national colour of deep red. The stylish royal paired her blazer with a sunhat and sunglasses with dark blue frames, protecting herself from the sun’s glare.

Her look was completed with several pieces of jewellery, including gold hoop earrings, and layered gold necklaces.

Meanwhile, Princess Benedikte sported a polo shirt in the same national shade, which she also paired with a straw sunhat.

Yesterday’s dressage event decided the team medals, with Germany taking gold and Denmark silver.

Among the Danish dressage riders is Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, who qualified for her spot in the event following Wednesday’s Dressage Grand Prix, during which she rode her horse Freestyle.

That day, Queen Mary was snapped meeting the rider, with the women beaming for a photograph alongside Mary’s friend Helle Trolle.

Wednesday’s event, which saw Cathrine and Freestyle top the list of competitors, was a qualifier for both the team and individual finals.

Speaking about the performance, the equestrian said: ‘I’m very relieved and super proud.

‘The performance from Freestyle today was wonderful. My plan today was to not push her to do something, but just see what she offered – and what she did today was just something she offered me.’

Freestyle was previously ridden by British rider Charlotte Dujardin, who was forced to withdraw from the Games following the release of a video which allegedly showed her whipping an unknown horse more than 24 times on the legs while at a UK training venue.

The footage, which was reportedly sent to the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) on July 22, resulted in three-time gold medalist Dujardin, 39, being suspended pending investigation.

On July 23, Dujardin confirmed that she was the individual shown in the footage, and that the conduct captured in the clip was inappropriate.

Aired by Good Morning Britain on July 24, the video shows Dujardin walking alongside the horse, which was being ridden by a 19-year-old girl, as she struck its legs with a whip.
