It’s alleged by police that one of the two boys transferred to Queensland Children’s Hospital was driving the car before the accident.

One boy, 14, had serious neck, back, shoulder and chest injuries and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital.

A fourth boy, also 14, was transported under police guard to the same hospital with minor injuries.

He was later released from hospital and taken into custody by police.

He’s been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and commit indictable offence, receiving tainted property and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The boy was held in custody on Monday night and will front Toowoomba Childrens Court on Wednesday.

The group of teens had stolen the Commodore at a property in Kingsthorpe on Sunday night before they drove it on Warrego Highway the next morning, according to police.

They were driving west when they veered to the side of the road, went over an embankment and rolled the car.

Police claim the teens were all from the Toowoomba area.

A Queensland detective has cautioned young offenders to consider their actions as they could result in serious injuries or death.

‘Incidents like this are very traumatic, not only for the parents of the children but also for members of the public,’ said Detective Acting Superintendent Garry Watts.

‘We have four people that were involved in the crash, two quite severely injured.’

‘We strongly urge children and anyone behaving like this to really think about what they are doing, because tragedy is right around the corner,’ he added.

It comes as the region sees a significant rise in car thefts by young teenagers.

KSouljah Kahukura-Campbell claimed ownership of the stolen Holden Commordore and said the theft had ‘really put me out’ as his tools were gone and he couldn’t get to work.

Mr Kahukura-Campbell believes he had left the car unlocked when it was taken on Sunday night.

He didn’t have much sympathy for the teens, telling The Courier Mail: ‘If you are going to be dumb you are going to pay the consequences.’
