‘This morning a family in Twin Waters were about to clean the BBQ for a New year’s day BBQ party when they discovered that there was a medium sized carpet python hiding under the grill,’ Mr McKenzie wrote on Facebook.

‘He wasn’t a welcome guest at the celebrations so I came out and relocated him.’

Video of the incident shows Mr McKenzie lifting the lid, and then the grill off the barbeque.

He finds the snake curled up underneath the grill.

Mr McKenzie calmly lifts the snake and bags it up, so the family can get lunch started.
