Questions to Ask a House Manager Before You Begin Your Stay in a Large House

The good thing about your decision to stay in a large house is that you can expect someone to help you upon arrival. You will see the house manager first who will hand you the keys and show you around. When you don’t have questions or concerns, the manager will leave, and you can commence your staycation. Before deciding on which of the many large houses to rent, these are some essential questions you need to ask to ensure you enjoy your stay.

Are there areas I can’t go into?

If there are restricted areas or facilities, the manager will tell you about it. In case the manager forgets to tell you about these areas, you need to ask. You should know about them rather than enter those places and be at risk. In some instances, the manager will not warn you since there are signs and reminders that you can read.

What happens if there are emergencies?

Since you don’t reside in the same area as the large house, you might not know whom to call or how to ask for help if there are medical emergencies or other problems. You can ask the house manager about it. You need to remember the right steps to take during emergencies before you panic and forget what to do.

Do I have to clean the house before leaving?

It would help if you make it clear that cleaning the house isn’t your responsibility. If it is, and you forget to do it, you could get charged extra. You should clarify if you already paid for the cleaning service, or it requires a separate fee.

Where do I leave the keys?

After your stay ends, the manager won’t be there. It would help if you ask how you’re going to return the keys. In most instances, you will be asked to return them to security guards or officers who will then return the keys to the owners. Don’t take the keys with you or leave them inside the house.

Can I extend my stay?

You only booked for a night because you were not sure if you would like the experience. You wanted to stay for a night first before you make up your mind. In case you enjoy the stay and you want another night, you have to ask the manager if it’s possible. You might even receive a discount for your second night. However, if the place is very popular and it’s during peak seasons, it might be impossible for you to extend your stay. Once your time is over, you have no choice but to pack and leave. The cleaning staff will maintain the place in preparation for the arrival of the next guest. If you can’t get enough of the large house, you can rent it again for future staycations. You might also consider looking at other homes for rent. Given the facilities and amenities available, it’s possible that you might extend your stay.
