Quick-thinking mother uses broom to stop toddler falling onto his head in Hebei, China [Video]

This is the moment a quick-thinking mother used her broom to keep her son from falling headfirst out of his baby walker.

CCTV footage shows the boy in a walker approaching his mother who was sweeping the yard in Handan, Hebei province on October 11.

The little boy’s mother spots him heading for a tumble and responds with cat-like reflexes.

As the walker falters on the stone steps, threatening to throw the little boy out headfirst onto the concrete, the mother dashes across the courtyard. 

Throwing the dustpan to the ground, the mother charges with the broom held out in front of her.

Just in the nick of time, the mother uses the broom to keep the walker from throwing the baby out onto his head.

An older woman, possibly the boy’s grandmother, emerges from the house wearing a red jacket.

As the toddler appears at the open door in his walker, his mother stands with her back to him, sweeping the courtyard

The older woman helps the boy’s mother steady the walker before lifting the tot out of his walker and holding him against her body.

A man then appears at the door after the drama has played out, looking confused as the two women comfort the boy, who has survived a close call encounter.

The incident closely parallels a viral video from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in which a mother’s lightning-fast reflexes saved her baby from falling off a bed.

It was only her quick reaction that prevented the child falling and hitting his head on the hard-tiled floor.
