Rachael Finch hits back at cruel mother-shaming slur after making a ‘controversial’ change to her children’s meals: ‘I have no words’

Rachael Finch has hit back at cruel trolls after they accused her of ‘underfeeding’ her children with a ‘strict’ diet.

The model, 35, often gives an insight into her kids eating habits and frequently shows off the healthy meals she has prepared for her children Violet, eight, and Dominic, five.

Rachael revealed she was branded an ‘almond mum’ and accused of ‘endangering’ her kids after sharing a video of herself making her children ‘naked burgers’ by using lettuce instead of bread rolls.

‘Almond mum’ is a negative term used to criticise a person for allegedly pushing disordered and unhealthy eating on to their families, and is often used to refer to parents ‘obsessed’ with healthy nutrition.

A fired-up Rachael criticised the trolls’ ‘nasty’ remarks and said the bizarre accusation was ‘hilarious’.

Sharing a photograph of herself cuddling up with her two children, who she shares with her dancer husband Michael Miziner, Rachael wrote: ‘Someone officially labeled me an ‘almond mum’ this week.

‘Definition according to Google – ‘a parent who follows incredibly strict or dangerously unhealthy eating habits and attempts to force them on their children’.

‘This was because I made naked burgers for dinner (meat pattie & veggies wrapped in a lettuce cup).

‘Whilst it’s downright nasty, it’s also absurdly hilarious. I’ve become a pro at emotionally responding to these comments now.

‘I’ve had a giggle with a lot of you on what type of Mum you would be if you were labelled by a food. Comment what type of food **** Mum you would be?’

In her cooking video, Rachael was shown preparing mini beef burgers with vegetables – including gherkins, carrots and rocket – smashed avocado and tomato sauce for her kids.

She placed the ingredients inside a lettuce cup, rather than a bread roll, and was widely criticised for allegedly giving her kids ‘disordered eating’ with the healthy meal.

Rachael hit back at the criticism at the time and claimed the trolls wouldn’t complain if she was feeding her children fast food every day.

She fumed: ‘Apparently I’m giving my kids ‘disordered eating’ by making them naked burgers. According to commentary on my last Tik Tok video anyway..

‘Gee wiz. It’s funny you know – they wouldn’t blink an eye if I ordered cheeseburgers and fries from a fast food chain and put that on the table. But home-made naked burgers full of vegetables will create psychological damage? Go figure.’

The Former Miss Universe is extremely passionate about health and rarely allows her children to eat processed or sugary foods.

She has said her daughter Violet didn’t know what sugar tasted like until she was over the age of three, and once said she would prepare healthy meals for her kids before children’s party to avoid them tucking into ‘hot chips, nuggets, sweets and lollies’.

The doting mother often shares her healthy homecooked meals on Instagram, but has been forced to repeatedly hit back at wild accusations about her children’s nutrition from trolls

Last month, Rachael appeared on Today Extra to address a hateful message she received from a cruel troll who accused her of starving her children.

Speaking with hosts Sylvia Jeffreys and David Campbell, she said she is ‘welcome to constructive criticism’, but strangers talking about her children ‘crosses the line’.

‘I don’t shy away from criticism, I’m very welcome to constructive criticism. Particularly in our business because that’s what helps us get better,’ she said.

‘But when it’s personal attacks, that’s what crosses the line. Particularly about your children.’

She went on to say trolls on Instagram only ‘see a snippet of your life’ and don’t get the bigger picture of what is happening at home.

She also revealed exactly what her two kids usually eat in a day and insisted that she gives them ‘normal food’.

‘Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I make it from scratch,’ she explained. ‘So for breakfast I might do homemade waffles using rice flower and our protein powder.

‘I do eggs on toast, I do smoothies. I do a rice and quinoa pasta with grilled fish, veggies. Normal stuff.’
