Rachel Wilson: Young single woman ditched by her Hinge date after 45 seconds

A woman was horrified after being ‘ghosted’ just 45 seconds into a first date – but the lack of explanation behind the ordeal was the ‘worst’ part.

Rachel Wilson, from Florida, was all set to meet a Hinge date in mid-January after four days of chatting online.

The pair chose a local sports bar where they could order some chicken wings and have a beer.

‘My Hinge date left 45 seconds after meeting me to ‘move his car’ but then texted me: ‘Sorry, wasn’t feeling it [sad face emoji]’,’ she wrote in a now-viral TikTok.

The 28-year-old explained she saw a sign about vehicles parked in the wrong places getting towed regularly – so her date moving his car seemed commonplace.

But when he did not return, Rachel went to stand outside the restaurant in order to look for him. 

It did not help that their date was on Friday 13 January, an unlucky date and day combination according to Western superstition. 

‘I stood in front of the restaurant waiting for about five minutes before I got the text. I didn’t respond and immediately deleted his number and have heard no word from him since,’ Rachel said.

‘I think if I was not a confident person this would have honestly wrecked me, but luckily I am very secure and confident in who I am, so it won’t affect the way I approach dating moving forward.’

The Florida woman claimed that there were no red flags before the meeting, and that she liked when the man made a plan to see each other soon after matching. 

‘I hate when you meet someone on a dating app and talk back and forth forever, with no solid plans to meet.’

Rachel claimed she simply stood in front of the man and greeted him before he said he had to move his car. 

Fortunately, Rachel can now look back at her disaster date and laugh instead of stew over the dire experience. 

The content creator has amassed over 510,600 likes and several thousand comments for her story, with many proving that this was a common occurrence.

‘I had a guy fake having MS five minutes into mine. Happened last week,’ a woman said in solidarity.

‘I once had a guy tell me he left his charger in his car I told him I had one, he said he had a special charger. I watched him drive off.’ 

‘I was on a date one time (the guy picked me up) and as soon as we got to the restaurant he said he got called into work and left me there.’

While others chose to joke about the funny situation. 

‘I mean technically he did move his car. Away from you, the restaurant, and closer to his house.’
