- Hate notes including swastikas, a KKK hood and a confederate flag were posted
- They were found on the front door of Greater Praise Temple in Virginia
- Church members said they feel they have been taken ‘back to the 60s’
Hate notes including swastikas, a KKK hood and a confederate flag have been posted to the door of a Virginia church, threatening the lynching of its predominately black congregation.
The handwritten hate messages were taped to the door of Pentecostal church Greater Praise Temple in Dumfries, south of Washington.
Church members said they feel they have been taken ‘back to the 60s’ after reading the notes that said ‘now that’s white power’ and ‘day of the rope is coming’.

Also included in the hate messages was a sign that read ‘The Fourth Reich’, surrounded by swastikas drawn in blank ink.
Church member Gwen Myles said she was left ‘disturbed’ after police failed to dispatch an officer to collect the hate notes after they were reported, according to WJLA.
‘The more I think about it, that’s really disturbing. Why didn’t they come out?’ she told the network.
‘We want the support of the police department.
‘We aren’t going to let anything stop us form praising God’.
Prince William County police took over the investigation on Monday but have not identified any suspects, WJLA reported.
Now parishioners at the church are attempting to raise the funds to install surveillance cameras on the site in response to the hate messages.
