Rebel Wilson has fired back after Meshel Laurie boldly accused her of making up a ‘bulls**t story’ about her in her new memoir.
The Hollywood star, 44, made headlines with bombshell memoir Rebel Rising and left Australian author Meshel, 51, disgruntled over one anecdote.
However Rebel has firmly denied the tale in question is about the podcast host.
In her book, Rebel talks about her meteoric rise to fame in Pitch Perfect and how everyone she vaguely knew tried to befriend her after her hit breakout role.
She recalls one person from her past contacting her, saying: ‘Hi, yeah, I’m thinking of coming to LA. Can I stay with you? You’re the best. I always loved you. Bye.’
Rebel claimed she ignored the request, thinking: ‘Seeing as you weren’t really my friend and now you work the reception desk at a brothel, I’m not going to reply to you.’
The Bridesmaids star admitted she still feels ‘guilty’ for saying no to the mystery person, who she did not name in the extract.
But Meshel then claimed many people, including herself, believe the story is about her because she has openly spoken about the three years she spent working as a brothel receptionist in the 90s.

Speaking on her Can We Be Real? podcast, Meshel said: ‘As a person who’s been in this [entertainment] industry for a long time, I have never ever met anyone or heard about anyone else who worked reception in a brothel.’
Meshel said she met Rebel ‘many, many years ago’ at a gig and they shared an agent for a ‘long time’, but denied having her contact details or emailing to ask to stay with her in LA.
The podcaster said it ‘annoys’ her that many people might read the book and assume she was the one who ‘pretended’ to be Rebel’s friend, with her co-host Simon Baggs agreeing with her.
‘That’s embarrassing. I don’t want people thinking that of me,’ she admitted.
‘[Rebel], you should feel guilty for making up this f**king bulls**t story about me and putting it in your book,’ she went on.

‘Maybe it’s about someone else, it has to be because it’s not about me.’
However, Rebel set the record straight as she denied the story was about Meshel, insisting she is not referred to in any part of Rebel Rising, which was released in April.
She told news.com.au: ‘I am absolutely NOT referring to Meshel Laurie in that segment or my book nor in any segment of my book.
‘I am referring to a friend who I took acting classes with at the Australian Theatre for Young People.’
