Radio shock as Jackie O Henderson’s ex husband joins her in top spot in Sydney ratings

Jackie O Henderson’s ex-husband Phil O’Neil has become Sydney’s new top morning show radio host in his timeslot.

The WSFM radio presenter, best known as Ugly Phil, has knocked 2GB’s Ray Hadley off the top spot for the first time in two decades.

Phil, who hosts his show from 9am to 1pm, took out the pole position after attracting 12.7 per cent share of the available audience after lifting 0.5 percentage points.

Hadley had enjoyed an unbeaten 160 ratings survey run until this week when his show dropped 1.3 percentage points, pulling in 11.1 per cent share, coming third after smoothfm 95.3 with 11.2 per cent of the audience.

Phil began his radio career in the 1990s as the host of the Hot30 Countdown before landing roles on Nova 969 and Triple M.

In 2004, he returned to the UK and worked in radio before eventually travelling back to Australia.

He now works in the same building as his ex-wife Jackie, who co-hosts popular FM breakfast show on ARN’s KIIS 106.5 which airs from 6am to 10am weekdays.

Jackie and her co-host Kyle Sandilands have once again claimed the top position for their breakfast time slot despite a drop to 13.1 per cent of the audience.

Phil and Jackie previously worked together co-hosting the Hot30 Countdown in the 1990s.

They met when an 18-year-old Jackie called into the radio show Phil was hosting at the time to enter a competition, and were married just a year later.
