RAF air show sees more than 100 aircraft take to the skies including Falcons parachute squad

More than 100 aircraft including the Army’s Apache helicopter display team and the RAF’s Falcons parachute squad take to the skies for the Cosford Air Show

  • An estimated 55,000 aircraft enthusiasts attended the RAF Cosford Air Show in Shropshire today
  • The spectators were treated to a six-hour flying display by many modern and vintage planes and helicopters 
  • Among the highlights were a display by the Falcons parachute squad and a Battle of Britain memorial flight

A six-hour flying display with more than 100 aircraft has wowed tens of thousands at the RAF Cosford Air Show today.

Spectators were treated to displays from civilian and military aircraft as Typhoons, Chinooks, and the Falcons parachute squad performed their signature manoeuvres above the crowd.

Iconic vintage planes were on show at the Shropshire base alongside modern craft at the show attended by an estimated 55,000 people.

Following a week of D-Day memorials and commemoration, spectators were treated to a historical reenactment of the Battle of Britain.

Pyrotechnics on the ground added to the spectacular display in the skies and visitors were also able to inspect vintage aircraft up close.

One of the highlights of the day was the stunning acrobatic display from the Red Arrows and the sight of a rare reconnaissance Spitfire.
