Rafael Nadal sported a £540,000 watch as he breezed to his 11th French Open title… one of just 50 of the Richard Mille timepieces ever made
Rafael Nadal turned on the style as he clinched his 11th French Open title on Sunday while wearing a rare watch worth £540,000.
The Spaniard breezed past Dominic Thiem in straight sets at Roland Garros as he continued his dominance of the French Open with a record 11th success.
During one stretch of the final, Nadal’s hand appeared to cramp up and as he received treatment the TV cameras zoomed in on the eye-catching timepiece.

The Richard Mille timepiece is valued at a remarkable £540,000 and is one of just 50 that were produced by the luxury Swiss watch company.
The RM27-03 is just one of a number of flashy watches Nadal has worn during his playing career after sporting an even more expensive model, the RM27-02 at £580,000 during the 2015 French Open.
Nadal previously told The Wall Street Journal that wearing the watch required a period of adjustment before he felt completely comfortable.
‘In the beginning there was a little bit of transition, we had to work together to adjust everything to my wrist,’ Nadal told WSJ. ‘It’s like you are wearing nothing. It’s part of my skin.’

The 32-year-old later admitted that he was ‘very, very scared’ when the middle finger of his left hand seized up during the final in Paris.
But Nadal was able to shake off the issue to secure a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 straight-sets victory over the Austrian that took just two-and-three-quarter hours.
As a result Nadal went three clear of Max Decugis as the most successful French Open champion in history with 11 titles at Roland Garros.
In total Nadal has won 17 Grand Slams during his glittering career – a record which also includes three US Opens, two Wimbledons and one Australian Open.
