A bar worker has been fired after dramatic CCTV of a pregnant woman giving birth at the popular venue was filmed and shared online.
Footage of the woman dropping her pants moments before a baby pops out at the Raintrees Tavern in Cairns in far north Queensland went viral on social media on Thursday.
A security guard is seen picking up the newborn from the floor and cradling the infant.
While the popular venue declined to comment, its parent company ALH Hotels has condemned the sharing of the footage as unacceptable.
The employee who filmed and published the footage on social media had their employment terminated on Thursday, a week after the incident.
Footage shared online showed a woman giving birth in Raintrees Tavern while being assisted by a security guard
‘We take privacy very seriously, have strict policies protecting staff and patron privacy and regret CCTV footage has been accessed and shared in this way against company policy,’ a spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.
‘It is clearly unacceptable.
‘In addition to taking steps to ensure this does not happen again, appropriate disciplinary action has been taken against the team member who filmed and published the footage on social media.’
The surprise arrival happened on Australia Day when the pub would have been packed with patrons enjoying the public holiday.
Raintree Tavern staff cared for and supported the new mum and baby immediately after the birth and contacted paramedics.
Queensland Ambulance confirmed paramedics were called to the venue but said the woman and newborn left the venue in a private vehicle before they arrived.
The wellbeing of the new mother and her baby remains unknown, sparking concern for the pair from online viewers.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the security firm which provides guards to Raintrees Tavern for comment.

The extraordinary video shows the pregnant woman rushing into the pub’s dining area and ducking into a corner.
The woman pulls her pants down and bends over to push while still standing as the security guard rushes over to assist her.
The infant was seen dropping from the woman’s body as the guard lunged forward to try and catch the bub, which appeared to land on the carpeted floor.
The guard then bent down to pick up the baby. The woman looked relieved, still standing and bending over with her pants around her knees.
The small child’s umbilical chord can be seen in the footage as the worker held the newborn in his arms before walking away from frame.
The extraordinary incident drew instant reaction on social media with one person commenting that it was ‘truly incredible’.
‘[The guard] needs to update his resume,’ said one.
