Ralph Hasenhuttl has been cleared to return to take Southampton training on New Year’s day and will be back on the touchline against Liverpool on Monday.
Manager Hasenhuttl was forced to miss Southampton’s midweek goalless draw against West Ham and self-isolate after his wife received a positive coronavirus result on Monday.

He has now been cleared to return to take Southampton training on New Year’s day
However, following two rounds of further tests on Tuesday and today for members of Hasenhuttl’s household all checks came back negative and both Southampton and the Premier League’s medics are satisfied that the initial test was in fact a false positive.
In a statement confirming Hasenhuttl had received the green light to return to work, Southampton added: ‘The club would like to make clear that we fully support the protocols and regulations that led to Ralph self-isolating and view them as vital in keeping everyone involved in our club, our community and our game in a safe environment.’
