If Zidane does stay beyond the end of this season it could impact on Gareth Bale’s plans next summer.

Zidane’s opposite number Unai Emery will almost certainly leave next summer after falling short in a major European fixture again.

Midfielder Adrien Rabiot, meanwhile, seemed to point the finger of blame at the team’s all-star front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Edinson Cavani.

PSG’s goalscorer said: ‘The problem is it is easy to score eight goals at Dijon [in Ligue 1], but it is in these games where it is necessary to be decisive.’
