Rape and child trafficking suspects deny 100 charges

Ten men denied close to 100 charges of rape, supplying drugs and trafficking children at Leeds Crown Court today.

The men are among 29 people – including two women – who were arrested as part of a child sex abuse probe known as Operation Tendersea.

They are accused of the rape and sexual abuse of girls in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, between 2004 and 2011.

Amere Singh Dhaliwal, 35, of Holly Road, Thornton Lodge, denied 21 counts of rape, four charges of supply of Class A drugs, supply of Class B drugs, supply of controlled substances with intention to engage in sexual activity and 14 charges of trafficking females within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation.

He also denied five charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault by penetration, three counts of sexual touching, three of possession of indecent images of a child, racially aggravated assault and inciting a child into prostitution.

Zubair Ahmed, 31, of Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor, pleaded not guilty to rape and possession of extreme pornography.

Zahid Hassan, 28, of Bland Street, Lockwood, pleaded not guilty to eight charges of rap, attempted rape, aggravated assault, administering a substance with intent, two of trafficking for sexual exploitation, three of trafficking a child within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation, two charges of abduction of a child and two of supplying a class A drugs.

Mohammed Kammer, 32, of West View, Paddock, pleaded not guilty to two rape charges.

Nahman Mohammad, 31, of West View, Paddock, pleaded not guilty to trafficking and rape.

Hamzha Ali Saleem, 37, of Seymour Grove, Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, pleaded not guilty to three charges of trafficking a female within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation.

Irfan Ahmed, 32, of Yews Hill Road, Lockwood, pleaded not guilty to six charges of trafficking a female within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation, sexual touching, taking indecent images of a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Abdul Rehman, 29, of Darnley Drive, Sheffield, pleaded not guilty to trafficking a female within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation, sexual assault, rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, supply of Class A drugs and two charges of the supply of class B drugs.

Mohammed Aslam, 29, of Huddersfield Road, Dewsbury, pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape.

Raj Singh Barsran, 33, of Caldercliffe Road, Berry Row, pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual touching and rape.

A trial date has been set for 8 January.
