Ravers leave parks and streets of Britain strewn with litter

Illegal ravers across the UK are leaving parks and streets strewn with litter as dozens of lockdown parties spring up in response to restrictions being lifted.

Tottenham residents were left furious after finding glass bottles, gas canisters and food all over Bruce Castle Park today after a suspected rave which lasted until 4am.

It follows several violent incidents at raves across London this week which saw police mobbed, injured and hit with projectiles and rubbish after turning up at late-night callouts.

Police formed a barricade and raised their shields as various missiles were thrown at them during a stand off with ravers in Kilburn, north London

But police forces have now vowed to crack down on the illegal ravers with additional officers and section 60s dispersal orders – as more clashes are expected over the weekend.

Photos on social media show the extent of a rave in Tottenham, leaving most of park covered in trash.

One person commented: ‘So they’ve just undone all the healing the environment had during lockdown.’

Another person suggested the issue was nothing compared to scenes outside Anfield football stadium, where thousands of Liverpool fans had gathered to celebrate to club’s Premier League win.

Riot police struggled to clear yet another London block party yesterday after officers were attacked in a violent street party in Brixton

A massive block party took place in West Kilburn yesterday afternoon before moving to Maida Vale where riot police with shields and truncheons battled hundreds of revellers who threw missiles at them.

It marked the third night of unrest after raves Brixton and Notting Hill which both turned violent and led to police injuries. 

In Manchester, police have attended dozens of illegal raves over the past week, with revellers leaving behind piles of rubbish after being dispersed. Greater Manchester Police broke up 39 gatherings in Greater Manchester on Thursday alone.

In Cardiff, piles of hippy crack canisters and empty beer bottles were left behind at late night parties in the bay area to the south of the city.

Cardiff city council said in response: ‘With the recent warm weather and the lockdown starting to ease, we appreciate that residents want to spend more time outside.

‘What isn’t acceptable is for residents to leave their litter in parks and open spaces, ruining them for everyone else, and expecting someone else to clear up the mess they’ve left behind.’
