Raygun sends heartbreaking message after Olympic Games disaster as viral breakdancer addresses wild conspiracy theory in wake of Paris performance

Raygun has broken her silence following her disastrous Olympic Games performance.

The 36-year-old university lecturer has kept a low profile in the wake of her routine in Paris which saw her become an overnight sensation and thousands of memes generated on social media.

But she has also been the target of vicious online hate, with many questioning her selection on the Australian team.

Raygun made a brief statement on social media shortly after her performance – in which she failed to win any of her three battles – but spoke at length about the competition, and the resulting reaction, in a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday.

‘Hi everyone, Raygun here,’ she said in a message posted to her Instagram page. ‘I just wanna start by thanking all the people who have supported me.

‘I really appreciate the positivity and I am glad I was able to bring some joy into your lives, that is what I had hoped.

‘I didn’t realise that that would also open the door to to much hate which has frankly been pretty devastating.

‘While I went out there and had fun, I did take it very seriously. I worked my butt off preparing for the Olympics and I gave it my all. Truly.’
