RB Salzburg’s Erling Haaland copies Mohamed Salah’s and Antoine Griezmann’s celebration

Where have we seen that before? RB Salzburg’s Erling Haaland copies Mohamed Salah’s and Antoine Griezmann’s celebration after scoring against Napoli in Champions League

  • Erling Haaland produced a familiar goal celebration in 3-2 defeat by Napoli
  • The RB Salzburg produced a yoga-style celebration after netting a penalty
  • Antoine Griezmann and Mohamed Salah have also celebrated in similar style
  • The forward, son of Alf-Inge Haaland, has scored 20 goals in 13 games this term

Erling Haaland has been scoring like Europe’s best strikers this season, and now he’s celebrating like them too.

There was something familiar about the way he reacted after netting his first of two goals in Red Bull Salzburg’s Champions League defeat by Napoli on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Norwegian appeared to sit down and meditate after scoring in a style reminiscent of Mohamed Salah and Antoine Griezmann.

HAALAND IN 2019/20

Appearances: 13

Goals: 20

Assists: 5

Hat-tricks: 3

Griezmann was first seen performing the celebration during Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Monaco in November 2018, and Salah followed suit when he netted against Huddersfield in April.

Haaland has caught the attention of Premier League clubs with his goalscoring exploits in the Champions League and Austrian Bundesliga this season, and clubs will be keeping a close eye on the teenager after his latest performance.

Dries Mertens fired the Serie A club into a 17th-minute lead but Haaland replied from the penalty spot five minutes before half time.

Mertens was at it again in the second half, slamming in from Kevin Malcuit’s low cross before levelled once again with a bullet close-range header.

Remarkably, Mertens managed to outshine the Leeds-born forward on this occasion. The Belgian crossed for Lorenzo Insigne to fire beyond Carlos Miguel Coronel to earn a valuable Group E victory

In total, Haaland forward has produced 20 goals and five assists in 13 appearances this season.
