- A small dog tried to determine if a new robot dog was real or not by sniffing it
- The pooch first tries sniffing the ‘snout’ before moving and sniffing the behind
- However it is left perplexed by the machine’s life-like movements and barks
- The Sony Aibo has 22 points of articulation and various motion sensors that allow it to detect and interact with humans
- It costs owners roughly $25 per month to keep the AI dog up and running
A small dog was left puzzled by a robot dog and tried to figure out if its machine counterpart was real or fake.
The robot dog, a Sony Aibo, is seen ‘coming to life’ – stretching its hind legs and shaking its head from side to side.
While this is occurring, the small black dog slowly approaches the robot and begins sniffing its face.

Obviously confused, the real canine backs away as the machine pooch starts to move.
As Aibo barks, the real dog comes up behind it and sniffs its butt a few times before walking away.
The real dog has one last go and goes once again to the front to sniff the snout, but is left no more certain than when he started.

Inside of the robot dog’s nose is a camera that lets it see where it’s going as well as identify different people. It also responds to pats and even knows tricks like raising its paw
