CNN newsreader Anjali Rao QUITS the Real Housewives of Melbourne as she brags about her career in ‘the top tiers of media’ and says her co-stars are ‘a bunch of phonies without brains’
Anjali Rao appears to quit The Real Housewives of Melbourne in a sensational preview of next week’s episode.
The former CNN newsreader made the shock announcement of her exit by sending flowers and a note to Gamble Breaux’s art gallery opening, branding the women ‘a bunch of phonies.’
‘So why does she want to be our friend?’ asks a stunned Janet Roach.

Later, Anjali is shown meeting up with friend Kyla Kirkpatrick, seemingly to announce her departure from the show.
‘I’ve had 25 years in the top tiers of global media,’ Anjali says, before adding: ‘Yeah, I find the experience of being in the group boring.’
She then takes a swipe at her castmates’ intelligence in a scathing confessional.
‘I’m not exactly dealing with the biggest brains here. They’re not special, they’re just your average, run of the mill, common or garden variety b****es,’ she says.

Anjali is best known for her work with CNN and SBS, but has also worked with Sky News and Channel 10’s The Project.
This isn’t the first time that the award-winning journalist has taken a swipe at her castmates.
Speaking to The Herald Sun last month, the 47-year-old news anchor said that she was ‘self made’ and quite different to the other women on the show.
Elite: ‘I’ve had 25 years in the top tiers of global media,’ Anjali says in the preview, before adding: ‘I find the experience of being in the group boring’
‘To me it really isn’t all horse drawn carriages and diamond tiaras. But I think for those other women it is,’ she said.
‘To go into a world like Housewives was different, particularly when I am an entirely self made woman – professionally, financially, all of it – I didn’t have to hook up with somebody or marry someone to have it.
‘You can have your diamonds, I’ve got my brain,’ she added.
Vicious: ‘I’m not exactly dealing with the biggest brains here. They’re not special, they’re just your average, run of the mill, common or garden variety b****es,’ she says
Anjali also told the paper that the cast was shocked that she hadn’t undergone cosmetic procedures.
‘The others couldn’t believe I’d never had Botox. I think anybody who says they go into any reality show not frightened or nervous in some way, is a liar or an idiot,’ she added.
Anjali’s explosive exit will air on The Real Housewives of Melbourne on Sunday, November 14 on Foxtel.
