Real Madrid make FINAL £154m offer for Kylian Mbappe two days after PSG rejected £137m bid

PSG REJECT Real Madrid’s £154m offer for Kylian Mbappe, with the French giants desperate to draw a line under the transfer saga so it doesn’t overshadow Lionel Messi’s debut in Ligue 1 against Reims this weekend

  • Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to land Kylian Mbappe from PSG
  • Real have confirmed to Sportsmail that the new bid is £154m (180m euros)
  • But PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has warned that the striker is not for sale

Real Madrid have tabled a second bid of £154million (180m euros) for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe but the French club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi rejected it saying: ‘Our position is clear. We will not change it or repeat it.’

The improved offer, confirmed by the Spanish club to Sportsmail, is of 170m euros plus 10m euros in add-ons.

PSG had reacted angrily to Madrid’s first bid on Tuesday of 160m euros. Sporting Director Leonard accused the 12 times European Cup holders of ‘illegal and disrespectful behaviour’.

Lionel Messi is due to make his PSG debut this weekend and the feeling in the French capital is that it is in the interest of the Qatari-owned club to draw a line under Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe so as not to overshadow Messi’s first match.

Al-Khelaifi’s response was an attempt to do that but Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno, speaking at the Champions League draw, said the Spanish club was ‘calm and patient’ over its push to sign the 22-year-old forward.

Madrid want Mbappe to make his debut on September 11 when Real Madrid return to the Santiago Bernabeu in front of a reduced 40,000 capacity.

Despite the pandemic wiping 300m euros (£257m) off revenue since the pandemic, they say two frugal summers without a major signing have left them in a position to smash their transfer record for the French forward.
