- Cavani has argued with Neymar over free kicks and penalties on the pitch
- Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are yet to hit top form
Real Madrid will move for Edinson Cavani in the January transfer window if their own vaunted strike force continues to misfire.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are yet to hit top form in the league this campaign, with Real fifth in La Liga and seven points off leaders and rivals Barcelona.
Ronaldo missed four games through suspension for pushing a referee, while Bale and Benzema have both struggled with injuries.

As a result, according to Spanish website Don Balon, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is looking at options to boost his strike force, and has identified PSG forward Cavani as a target.
Cavani has been the centre of tension at the French club, arguing with world record signing Neymar over free kick and penalty duties during PSG’s 2-0 win over Lyon in September.
The Uruguayan is reported as ‘going crazy’ over wanting a move away from Paris, making any Real approach more welcome.

However Cavani is also said to be interested in a move to a Premier League club, and would prefer a team where he would be the focal point, unlike his current situation at PSG.
There is also the issue over whether Ronaldo would want more competition for the No 9 role he has inhabited through back-to-back Champions League successes.
Cavani meanwhile has attempted to play down his disagreements with Neymar, describing them as just ‘football stuff’.
He said: ‘These are things you discuss in the locker room. Everything has a solution. It’s all relaxed now. It is important that everyone strives for the same goal.’
