Real Madrid ‘want to sell outcasts Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz this summer’

Real Madrid ‘want to sell outcasts Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz this summer in bid to slash over £40MILLION from their wage bill’… with trio expected to join Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo in leaving the Bernabeu

  • Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland
  • But Spanish giants are aware they need to reduce their wage bill to sign them
  • Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are the trio they would like to sell
  • But LaLiga side are set to face a battle to offload the attacking trio this summer

Real Madrid are keen to offload Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz this summer in a bid to fund major moves in the transfer market.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe and reports suggest they have not given up hope of signing Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland either.

While the French striker would be able to move for nothing, there would still be considerable payments to agents while Haaland – who has a £63million release clause in his contract – is reportedly looking to earn more than £500,000 per week.

Eden Hazard has also struggled in LaLiga

AS therefore claim Madrid are aware of their need to reduce their wage bill, and have highlighted Hazard, Jovic and Mariano as the three players they would be keen to sell.

They claim Belgium international Hazard receives about £25m (€30m) gross per season, while Serbian Jovic brings in £8.3m (€10m) and Mariano £7.5m (€9m).

The total figure saved on those gross salaries therefore comes out at £40.8m (€49m), the report adds.

It represents a significant saving on top of those set to leave on a free transfer in the summer, namely fellow outcasts Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo.

They claim the 32-year-old Wales forward earns £25m (€30m) gross per year, while Marcelo and Isco bring in £13.3m (€16m) and £11.7m (€14m) respectively.

However, the same outlet claims shifting Hazard, Jovic and Mariano will be no easy feat, with MARCA claiming earlier this week the Belgian has no intention of leaving the Bernabeu before his contract expires in 2024.

AS claim his poor form means they may look to send Hazard out on loan – as they did with Bale in 2020 – in the hope he regains form and can be sold on in the summer of 2023.

Madrid are reportedly hopeful of this because the World Cup in Qatar will be the 31-year-old’s last and with Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and possibly Mbappe ahead of him in the pecking order he is in danger of missing out on Roberto Martinez’s squad.

The report adds Madrid are unlikely to fetch a fee anywhere near Jovic’s £17m (€20m) asking price in the summer, but have been encouraged by his desire to head out on loan, such as to former club Eintracht Frankfurt last season.

They also claim Mariano has systematically refused to leave Madrid in three consecutive summers, and that he is expected to adopt a similar stance in the upcoming transfer market.

The striker is therefore likely to see out his contract and then go on a free transfer next summer, but the club believe resolving ex-Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos and Jesus Vallejo’s future will be simpler.

The news comes after former Chelsea star Hazard suffered another blow with reports he is set to miss Reak’s quarter-final against his ex-club due to another ankle surgery.
