Reality star left with painful lacerations on her neck after terrifying encounter on her morning run: ‘This is messed up’

An Australian reality star has been left with a nasty neck injury after encountering a dangerous prank on her morning run.

Leesh Cunningham, who appeared on Stan’s Love Triangle season one in 2022, took to TikTok last week to share a warning to fellow runners about the dangers of running in wooded areas.

The F45 trainer was seen jogging down a footpath at sunrise in the clip, while telling viewers that she had just been sliced by a line of fishing wire hanging between two trees.

‘I don’t want to disrupt my run. But, some f**kwit has put fishing line across two trees. Right in [the] neckline,’ she said, gesturing to a painful looking laceration across her neck.

‘Seriously, if it’s kids, you actually don’t understand how serious that can be. Especially running at speed. Right there! F**king hell,’ she continued, making sure to add a selfie that clearly showed her neck injury and a picture of the wire trap.

Leesh again lashed out at the perpetrator in her caption, writing: ‘Seriously, what goes through someone’s thick head when they do messed up stuff like this! It could have been so much worse!’

She also responded to concerned fans in the comments section, clarifying that the incident took place on a walking track at Killarney Valley, in the NSW Central Coast, and that she had flagged the incident with police.

Speaking to Yahoo! News after the incident, Leesh said she was lucky to have noticed the wire moments before running into it.

‘I saw it, but because I was running I didn’t have enough time to stop. So it still hit me, but if I hadn’t seen it at all that would have done so much more damage,’ she said.

Leesh also admitted she was afraid she would be ambushed by whoever strung up the wire.

Her fears may not be beyond the realm of possibility, as hitting the wire trap at speed could easily incapacitate someone long enough for another person to abduct or assault them.

‘I was frantically looking and yelling just in case there was someone there,’ she said.

Stringing up tense fishing line or wire between trees can seriously injure a pedestrian, and even kill those riding bikes as hitting the line at speed could cause strangulation or even decapitation.

The deadly danger posed by hidden wires was immortalised in the 1974 Australian film Stone where wire strung across a road decapitated a motorbike rider.
