Reality star turned down at Australian Fashion Week in leaked emails

Leaked emails reveal popular designer’s brutal takedown of a reality star begging for an invite to Australian Fashion Week show – before she is turned down

A controversial reality star has been refused an invite to an Australian Fashion Week show for a surprising reason.

Carolina Santos, who famously had an affair on season nine of Married At First Sight, was brutally turned down after requesting an invite to designer Michael Lo Sordo’s show in Sydney.

Sending the brand a direct message on Instagram, Carolina wrote: ‘I would love to watch your show at AAFW in Sydney on the 15th.

‘Is there any possibility I could get an invitation? Thank you.’

Despite her polite request, the brand shut the 34-year-old after noticing that she wasn’t following them on Instagram.

‘Hi Carolina,’ they responded. ‘Thank you for your message. It would be in my view respectful to be supporting and following the brand’s page before asking for free tickets or an inclusion to the anniversary show.’

The reality star was immediately apologetic and clarified that she only follows 369 accounts, which are her personal friends and family.

‘I am so sorry,’ she said. ‘I am more than happy to follow as I truly love the brand. I actually come to check out your new posts every now and then to see the new drops.’

She continued: ‘Please don’t be offended. The only reason I wasn’t following is because I only follow a very small amount of people, not like most that follow 1000 or 2000-plus accounts.’

She further explained that she limited her accounts so she could focus on keeping up with her friends’ posts and so she wouldn’t get addicted to scrolling Instagram.

‘It was becoming unhealthy the amount of time I was spending on social media, so one of the things I did was mainly follow friends,’ she wrote.

‘Even brands I work with I only follow if they ask me too.’

Carolina attended several Fashion Week shows last year and currently runs her own designer bag hire business.

In April, it was reported that only a select few Married At First Sight stars would be lucky enough to get a Fashion Week invite this year.

Evelyn Ellis, Janelle Han and Tahnee Cook, who already work in the fashion and influencer spheres, are said to be among the lucky few.

Fresh from her stint in the jungle, MAFS alum Domenica Calarco has also secured her seat and is expected to appear at multiple shows.
