He has helped countless singletons try and find that special someone.

The French star, 52, has worked as maître d’hôtel in some of London’s most prestigious restaurants and carved out a successful career as a TV personality.

He is rarely off our screens and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the hospitality and entertainment industry.

But the TV regularlooked unrecognisable as he shared a throwback snap on Instagram on Sunday.

Can you guess who it is?

That’s right, it’s Fred Sirieix!

Flashing a smile, the star proved that he always had good looks – even without his trademark beard – as he posed next to a royal guard on a horse.

He donned a white jacket over the top of a black quarter zip and blue jeans.

Captioning the throwback pic, he wrote: ‘Straight from 1992. The year I first got to Britain. I was just 20 years old.’

For many of us, we know Fred as the charming maitre d’ on Channel 4’s First Dates.

He then surprised fans when he returned to our screens earlier this year as presenter of the BBC’s Olympics coverage in Paris.

The stint was his biggest job yet, and adds onto an already remarkable success story from beginning as a chef in France, to filming a road trip show with Gordon Ramsay and starring in ITV’s I’m a Celeb.

Fred grew up in Limoges, France, and always knew he wanted to work in the hospitality industry from an early age.

He started off his career as a Chef de Rang at the three-Michelin starred restaurant La Tante Claire, which has since closed down.

He then worked his magic at Le Gavroche, Sartoria and Brasserie Roux.

But it was at the Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin at Windows, on the 28th floor of the Hilton on Park Lane, where he found a home as the general manager and remained for 14 years until 2019.

His life in TV life took off by surprise, from becoming the friendly face associated with First Dates, to road tripping with culinary greats Gordon and Gino.

Last year, Fred found further fame on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here when he hit out at Nigel Farage, saying the Reform leader was ‘not interested in making the world a better place’.

Away from the spotlight, he has two children — Andrea, 19, and Matteo-Lucien, 14 — with his partner ex partner Alex Spendolini.

He is currently engaged to fiancée Fruitcake, who he plans to marry in Jamaica later this year.

While appearing on I’m A Celeb last year, the First Dates star revealed how he met his wife-to-be with his campmates.

Fred shared: ‘I’ve never had a bad date. But the way I met Fruitcake, I met her in Peckham.

‘I was walking up and she was smiling at me and I was smiling at her and I liked her eyes… I just had to talk to her… I asked for her number, I said, ”Shall we go for a drink tonight?” That was nine years ago. We’re getting married next year in Jamaica.’
