Rebecca Gibney admits she NEVER wanted to sign up to Celebrity MasterChef

Rebecca Gibney reveals she NEVER wanted to sign up to Celebrity MasterChef but finally caved for one big reason… as she admits her cooking skills are less than impressive

She’s the popular New Zealand-born actress who is one of ten celebrities to have signed up for this year’s Celebrity MasterChef.

But on Sunday, Rebecca Gibney revealed she never really wanted to to go on the show – and only caved in after being begged by her 17-year-old son, Zac.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the 56-year-old revealed: ‘[Zac] said ‘Mum, you could make your banging spag bol and you do a really good roast chook’ – I’m going ‘Mate, it’s the MasterChef kitchen, you don’t do a spag bol!”

Zac was quick to whip out the ultimate technique in getting her to sign up – saying he’d think so was cool for doing so, as it’s the ‘only reality show I watch’.

After he told his mother that MasterChef ‘had cred’, Rebecca continued: ‘So, all of a sudden I’ve got cred because I’m doing MasterChef – forget Halifax, forget Packed to the Rafters and forget Wanted.’

Rebecca doesn’t seem to think her minimal talents in the kitchen will go far, adding: ‘It’s so stressful that I have already laid down on the floor and cried and I’ve only cooked twice.’
