Rebecca Gibney’s son Zachary poised to become Australia’s next big ‘nepo baby’ following his emotional Logies speech

It seems that the son of Logies Hall of Fame inductee Rebecca Gibney could be destined for big things.

According to New Idea, Zachary Bell, 20, could be joining the ranks of Australia’s ‘nepo babies’ alongside Robert and Bindi Irwin, Christian Wilkins and Willow Stefanovic.

The call comes after Zachary made headlines when he presented Rebecca, 59, with her prestigious Hall of Fame honour at the 2024 Logie Awards earlier this month.

It seems that his star status is now rising, and industry insiders are ‘scrambling to snap up the aspiring actor.’

His Logies speech reportedly piqued the interest of many ‘insiders’.

Also being the son of one of the most beloved Aussie television actresses and notable production designer Richard Bell has placed him well and truly on the radar.

‘With his family’s acting pedigree, Zachary Bell is already firmly on the radar of a number of Australian casting directors,’ a TV insider told the publication.

The source added that Zachary could be the next fresh face on the likes of iconic soaps Neighbours or Home and Away.

‘He’s young, he’s good looking and if he’s even half as talented as his legendary mum Rebecca, you can almost certainly expect big things from this rising star,’ they said.

‘Do not be surprised if he starts out soon on Neighbours or Home and Away for example.’

The term ‘nepo baby’ refers to a person who benefits from their family connections or privileged background.

Zachary is not only relying on his parents’ reputations alone to break into the industry however as he is currently in his third year at New Zealand’s leading drama school Toi Whakaari.

He also already has a few credits under his belt including an episode of Under The Vines and the series Wanted – both starring his famous mum.

After presenting his mum with her award on Logies night, he said in his speech: ‘I feel so lucky to have been raised by someone with so much love to give and be guided through life watching her show so much kindness to everyone she meets.’

When Rebecca was finally called up to the stage, The Dressmaker star could barely keep herself from bursting into tears as she read her emotional speech.

‘I am so overwhelmed. I’m sorry. My son, oh my god, I was kind of okay until you came out. Thank you so much,’ she said in a quaking voice.

Rebecca also reciprocated Zachary’s kind words during her speech, calling him ‘ridiculously talented.’

‘For my son Zac who continues to bring me the best kind of joy. I am so proud of you,’ Rebecca gushed.

‘I am so proud of the kind, gentle, ridiculously talented individual you are. Thank you for teaching me to be a good mum. I love you beyond words.’
