Rebel Wilson launches new dating app Fluid inspired by her own sexual journey

Rebel Wilson, 42, has launched a dating app called Fluid for singles wanting to find ‘love without labels’.

Her passion project is a collaboration with group of friends, who wanted to create a platform that is not limited by gender and sexual orientation.

The app matches couples based on who they are ‘vibing with’ and how much time users are spending looking at other people’s profile, allowing a wider range of potential partners.

‘I found love and I want to help everyone else find it too,’ the actress – who co-founded the app with her close friend, TV host and producer Carly Steel – said to DailyMail.com in a statement.

‘You can be on Fluid and be anywhere on the sexuality spectrum. It’s designed to help everyone find their perfect match.

‘We want to break down the stereotypes and societal expectations that dictate how people should love.’

‘You might be pretty straight but interested in exploring, like I was. There’s no judgement and no rigid rules.’

‘I wish I’d had a dating app like Fluid earlier in my life.’

Speaking to Life Uncut hosts Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley this week about the app, Rebel revealed her motivation behind the app – which is available for download from the Apple Store from February 15.

‘I just thought, the other dating apps I think are a bit outdated then that you have to kind of tick a box and label yourself,’ she said.

Rebel added that she would have used her new app had it have been available to her while she was in the dating scene.

‘Why I created Fluid was it’s just a very safe, very inclusive space where you don’t have to categorise yourself, so there can’t be any judgements,’ she said.

Her co-founder Carly added to DailyMail.com: ‘Unlike other apps, you don’t label yourself, or what you’re looking for during the sign up process. The algorithm detects your preferences based on how you vibe and interact with other profiles. It also has the ability to evolve with you as your preferences evolve.

‘I have witnessed first hand how many sexual identities are fetishized, hyper-sexualized, marginalized or discriminated against on other dating apps. Fluid is for everyone. We want everyone to feel comfortable using the app and feel like they belong to a community with intersectionality at its core.’

The launch of Fluid comes less than a year after Rebel and her fashion designer girlfriend Ramona were forced to publicly announce that they’d been dating in June 2022.

‘I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove,’ she wrote when she confirmed their relationship on Instagram.

The couple announced their daughter Royce’s arrival in November.

At the time, Rebel gushed that starting her own family was something that she dreamed of for years.

In a recent interview, the Pitch Perfect actress revealed that the birth of her daughter Royce was not the first time that she had tried surrogacy – explaining that her first attempt ended with a devastating miscarriage.

‘I tried with one surrogate to have the baby, and sadly the embryo miscarried,’ she told The Pick Up With Britt, Laura and Mitch.

‘I’d only been dating Ramona for two months and I had to be like, “By the way, the surrogate looks like it’s out of the first trimester and it’s serious and I am going to have a baby by the end of the year.’

Rebel also shared details of how she chose a sperm donor for her child.

She explained how at the ‘sperm shop’ she was given access to pictures of potential donors when they were children and as adults, as well as their genetic history.

Rebel said she also listened to voice recordings from the donors, adding that it was ‘really interesting to hear how they answered certain questions.’

‘I had like a sperm concierge, so they trawl through all the sperm shops and then give me the 10 best that match my criteria.’
