‘Record label boss’ was friends with man jailed for £7m heist whose doctor wife was murdered

The record label boss who was shot dead in front of his family in London was friends with a criminal involved in Denmark’s biggest heist.

Flamur ‘Alex’ Beqiri, 36, was killed on Christmas Eve and the shooting comes after the murder of a friend’s wife who was gunned down while holding her baby in August.

Dr Karolin Hakim was shot dead with her two-month old baby in her arms in Malmö, Sweden, and was the girlfriend of a man who was jailed for his role in Denmark’s biggest ever heist.

Naief Adawi, 33, served eight years for a 2008 raid on a security firm in Brondby, Denmark, by AK-47 wielding robbers who made off with £7million in cash – making it the biggest ever heist in Denmark’s history.

Adawi was friends with, and a guest at the wedding of, Mr Beqiri who was shot up to ten times in front of his screaming wife Debora and child who watched in horror outside their £1.5million home in Battersea at around 9pm on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police said they are considering the shooting as a ‘targeted attack’ and officers are led to believe Mr Beqiri may have been involved in criminality in Sweden.

Adawi, 33, was targeted by a gunman outside a falafel kiosk in the Ribersborg district of Malmö, southern Sweden, in August.

Mr Adawi handed his two-month old baby to his girlfriend, 31-year-old doctor Karolin Hakim, and fled the scene.

The assassin fired multiple shots and killed Ms Hakim with a bullet to the head while she was holding their baby who survived the attack.

Mr Adawi was a known criminal and was believed to have been the main target of the murder, according to police.

He was jailed for eight years for his part in Denmark’s biggest heist in a £7million (62 million Danish Kroner) raid on August 10 2008 at 5am along with 20 other men.

The men used a 20-ton bulldozer to crash through the walls of the Dansk Værdihåndtering building in Brondby, Copenhagen.

The robbers fled the scene in three Audi cars that had been stolen in Stockholm, Sweden.

In a military operation, the men parked 11 stolen rubbish vans outside police station exits and set them alight with petrol.

Caltrops were also scattered across escape routes to prevent the men from being caught.

Armed police raided the Hotel Scandic in central Copenhagen and arrested four of the suspected robbers after an extended surveillance operation of the gang, according to The Local.

Detective Inspector Jamie Stevenson confirmed the force is ‘considering that this is a targeted attack’ against Mr Beqiri.

He added in a statement: ‘Work is ongoing to determine what the possible motive could be, and while we retain an open mind, we are considering that this is a targeted attack. While I am mindful of concerns from the local community, we do not believe at this stage that there is any ongoing risk to members of the public.

‘We believe Flamur may possibly have been involved in some criminality in Sweden, and are in liaison with our Swedish counterparts to try to understand what, if any, incidents there may have been that might have led to someone seeking retribution against Flamur in the UK.’

In 2008 Flamur was named as one of Sweden’s most wanted men after detectives said he was part of an international drugs smuggling ring who moved £2million of cannabis into Scandinavia.

Police said at the time they believed Mr Beqiri fled a bust at the border in bare feet but the drugs charges were later dropped.

He was instead found guilty of illegally handling smuggled goods including cigarettes and alcohol and given a suspended sentence.

The murder victim said he had no idea the Dutch man carrying 300kg of cannabis in his car and told detectives that the £5,000 cash was for a previous delivery of spirits and tobacco.

An insider in Sweden told MailOnline today that Mr Beqiri, who moved from Albania to Sweden as a child, was ‘heavily linked’ to criminals in the Swedish underworld but may have moved to the UK to ‘go legit’.
