This week, the earnings of Australia’s biggest media stars came under scrutiny as Lisa Wilkinson sensationally quit the Today show after failing to secure the same salary as her male co-host, Karl Stefanovic.
But while Lisa may have earned less than Karl for her duties on Nine’s breakfast program, a number of female media figures earn more money than their male counterparts.
According to a report published in The Sunday Telegraph, Sonia Kruger, Amanda Keller and the ABC’s Virginia Trioli all take home a bigger pay packets than the men they work with.

According to The Telegraph, 52-year-old Sonia’s annual take-home is $800,000. However, it’s unclear whether this includes her earnings for also hosting Nine’s The Voice Australia.

And the Amanda, 55, and Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones are paid handsomely for their efforts.

The 53-year-old is paid $235,664 for hosting ABC Breakfast, while 49-year-old Michael earns $151,006.

Last week, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Dave Hughes, 46, offered to take a pay cut after his long-term co-host Kate Langbroek told him that he made ’40 per cent more’ than her for their radio show.

A 2011 Herald Sun report claimed Kylie took home $400,000 a year when Larry was earning $800,000.
