Reports Jessica Marais has split with her boyfriend Jake Holly

Jessica Marais announced last month that she would not be returning to acting this year following her recent mental health issues.

And on Monday, it was reported that the Logie Award-winning actress, 33, had ‘split’ with her photographer boyfriend Jake Holly after an apparently difficult few months.

Woman’s Day magazine claimed that the couple – who went public with their romance earlier this year – decided to call it quits and just be friends instead.

‘The challenges they have faced over the last few months would put enormous pressure on even the most solid of couples, and they have tried to endure the battles together,’ a friend reportedly claimed.

‘But in reality Jake has decided that it would be best for both of them to be friends rather than in a live-in relationship.’

Woman’s Day also alleged that Jessica would soon be moving out of the couple’s shared home in Coogee, Sydney.

However, the pair are said to be remaining friends.

‘They will keep going to church together and plan to have weekly catch-ups,’ the source added.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Jake and Jessica’s representative for comment.

The alleged split follows Jessica’s decision to ‘step away from acting for the remainder of 2018 to focus on her health and spend time with her family.’

Back in July, the mother-of-one was also forced to miss the Logie Awards in order to receive treatment for ‘urgent’ issues at a mental health facility in Bronte, Sydney.

When Jessica won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress during the ceremony, her Love Child co-star Miranda Tapsell accepted the award on her behalf.

Following a four-week stint in the facility, Jessica praised Jake for giving her ‘hope’ and support in her time of need.

Taking to Instagram, she captioned a photo of the couple: ‘You can go 40 days without food, four days without water, four minutes without air, but not a moment without hope.’

Jessica shares a six-year-old daughter, Scout, with her ex-fiancée James Stewart.
