Reservoir Private Hospital homicide investigation begins as siege begins at a nearby Melbourne home

A man has died and a woman has been seriously injured in a stabbing at a private hospital. 

The man died at the scene and the woman was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition with injuries to her upper body. 

A siege is now underway at a nearby property in Melbourne’s north where police believe a man who is potentially involved in the incident is bunkering down.

A team of heavily armed police are negotiating with the man at a home on Willoughby Street, Reservoir, demanding through a megaphone that he comes outside.

At around 8.20am on Wednesday emergency services responded to an incident at Reservoir Private Hospital in what police suspect to be a homicide.

‘A crime scene has been established and Homicide Squad detectives will investigate the matter,’ a Victoria Police spokesperson said. 

Police believe the people involved are known to each another.

Residents of Willoughby St told the Herald Sun the street is normally ‘quiet and nice’.

‘We heard the sirens this morning, my neighbour said it happened in the (hospital) car park,’ one woman said.
