A frightened young family was forced to hide in a bedroom as two masked teens wielding a machete ransacked their home in the bayside neighbourhood of WAG turned anti-crime crusader Bec Judd.

Tradie Rory O’Sullivan, 39, was woken by the intruders trying to break into his Elsternwick home in Melbourne’s south-east shortly before 3.30am on May 21.

‘I saw through the camera they had a machete,’ he told Seven News.

‘I ran upstairs, grabbed the girls, and came straight back to my bedroom, where Ana (his wife) was.’

Terrifying CCTV captured the masked teens attempting to break down the front door.

One appeared to take a run up before kicking violently and repeatedly.

The other teen, who appeared to be holding a small knife and a machete, also tried to kick the door down.

Fearing for their lives, the terrified family called the police after the teens finally broke into the home.

‘I shouted at them: ‘Get out of the house. Get out of the house’,’ Mr O’Sullivan said.

‘(I was) really pushing (the bedroom door), because you could feel them really kicking.’

The teens ransacked the home and stole a Toyota Land Cruiser, handbag and credit cards.

His wife, Ana confronted one of the teens who can  can be heard yelling: ‘Give me the keys now or your girlfriend is getting chopped up.’

‘I was shouting and screaming and calling for help,’ she said.

‘At one point he was running towards me.’

It’s unknown whether the teens have been charged.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for further details.

The home is in one of multiple bayside suburbs which neighbours Brighton, home of AFL WAG and outspoken campaigner on violent crime Bec Judd.

Days after the home invasion, the model influencer took to social media about a separate machete attack in a north Melbourne shopping centre last Sunday.

Judd slammed Victoria’s Labor state government on Wednesday over the news that the ringleaders were on bail.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged over the brawl at Northland Shopping Centre.

Another five men have since been charged with various offences.

The incident prompted Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan to hold a snap press conference on Monday to announce a machete ban would be fast-tracked.

The laws banning the sale of machetes were meant to be enforced on September 1, but came into effect on Wednesday.

‘Those knives are dangerous weapons,’ Premier Allan said.

‘They have no place on our streets anywhere and that is why I will introduce as many laws to get these dangerous knives off the streets.

‘(It) is why I’m announcing today that, effective immediately, we will be bringing in place a ban on the sale of machetes here in Victoria, and this ban will be in place from midday on Wednesday.’

But Mr O’Sullivan believes the machete ban will do little to resolve Victoria’s youth crime epidemic.

‘It’s going to do absolutely nothing,’ he said.

Since the terrifying invasion, the family have spent almost $10,000 on home security upgrades.

The couple now sleep with a crowbar and baseball bat underneath their bed.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria’s Police Minister Anthony Carbines for comment.
