In the CCTV footage from the 11.30pm Sunday theft show a man can be seen frantically trying to open the restaurant’s till.

The back door, till and printer were all damaged as a result. A few hundred pounds were taken from the till, as well as tips.

The Italian restaurant owner, who lives half an hour from his place of work, said: ‘It’s not just about the money though, it’s the inconvenience. They made a right mess and I don’t want my staff to feel unsafe.

‘I think he entered with a knife because he came through the back and cut through the lock on the door.’
