Manchester United’s stars have been praised by fans for the ‘mentality and hunger’ shown in their reaction to Harry Maguire’s last-gasp miss against Liverpool on Sunday.
With 20 seconds to go, Joshua Zirkzee cut back the ball in the area to the defender, who blasted it over the bar with his first-time effort.
Had it gone in, United would have been primed to win their first game at Anfield since 2016 after Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo’s goals earlier in the half.
Manuel Ugarte, Noussari Mazraoui, Diallo, Diogo Dalot, Leny Loro, and Martinez were all hanging around the half-way line when Maguire spurned his chance.
And footage shows most of them collapsing onto the turf in disbelief after they watched the ball sail over the woodwork, consigning them to a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, Dalot held his arms to the sky and jumped around in frustration.

Ruben Amorim defender Maguire after the miss, hailing his commitment on the pitch
In the box, Alejandro Garnacho, who had been a bit behind Maguire, fell to his knees with his hands aloft before faceplanting on the grass.
At the other end of the pitch, Andre Onana collapsed on to his back and started rolling around.
Manager Ruben Amorim held the back of his head in his hands while assistant Adelio Candido, aged just 28, crouched and covered his face with his gloves.
United fans were impressed with the passion whon in their teams’ response.
‘WHAT A VIDEO!’ wrote one account.
‘Man Utd players’ reaction to that Maguire last-second miss. Look how VERY disappointed they are to not win at Anfield, instead of sitting back and defending for a draw.
‘That’s the mentality and hunger we want to see.’
One replied: ‘That’s what i like to see!!’
‘They are acting like a team again,’ said another.
Fans might have preferred to see almost anybody else presented with the opportunity than Maguire, who, despite his heading prowess, is not famed for his finishing with his feet.
But Amorim praised Maguire’s commitment despite his miss.
‘For me, missing chances or playing badly with the ball is not the big issue,’ Amorim told the BBC.
‘For me, the big issue is that Harry gave everything on the pitch. That is the most important thing.’
