Sporting Lisbon are willing to sanction the sale of Viktor Gyokeres at a cut-price fee as a ‘thank you’ gesture, according to a report.

The Swedish striker has been earmarked with a move away from Portugal this summer, with Man United and Arsenal considered the frontrunners to win his signature.

Gyokeres has become one of Europe’s hottest talents following a superb return of 43 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions thus far in 2024-25.

Gyokeres is currently contracted to Sporting until 2028, with his release clause set at £85million. Multiple reports this season have revealed that he is interested in playing in the Premier League.

And, since he stayed put at Sporting over the January transfer window, the club are reportedly set to grant Gyokeres his wish of securing a big move away from Portugal this summer.

The Portuguese giants are willing to sanction his sale at a fee between £55m and £70m, as a thank you for sticking by them over the winter, according to The Sun.

Sporting are knee-deep in a title race with Benfica, as the two sides are level on points with six games to go.

After Sporting lost Ruben Amorim to United back in November, Gyokeres opted to stay with the club and help deliver one last league title before seeking a move away.

It was recently reported that Gyokeres favours a move to Arsenal over United this summer, as he wants to continue to play in the Champions League.

While the Red Devils can still earn their spot in Europe’s most prestigious club competition next season by winning the Europa League, Gyokeres seems unwilling to bet on their tumultuous form.

Arsenal have reportedly developed a strong interest in the Sporting Lisbon star following the arrival of Andrea Berta as sporting director.

Arsenal’s need for a striker has been all too apparent this season, especially following injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

When available Havertz often gave a good account of himself and contributed with 15 goals this season in all competitions.

However, it is widely believed that Arsenal need an upgrade up front in order to help them to achieve success.
