The thrilling Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn grudge match reportedly generated around 620,000 pay-per-view (PPV) buys.

Chris Eubank Jr finally settled the score with Benn after a bitter build up in an epic 12-round middleweight affair which saw the 35-year-old claim victory via unanimous decision in a fight of the year contender at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The bout featured wild aggression from both fighters, albeit with neither landing a decisive blow, with all three judges scoring it 116-112 in favour of Eubank Jr.

The build up to the contest was full of drama with Eubank Jr missing weight a day ahead of the fight and Chris Eubank Sr branding his son a ‘disgrace’ before performing a remarkable U-turn and walking him to the ring.

The contest, which saw Eubank Jr ending his opponent’s run of 23 wins three years after their rivalry began, brought in around 620,000 PPV buys, according to Ring Magazine.

The PPV fight, broadcast by Sky Sports and DAZN in the UK, was priced at £19.95.

Eddie Hearn had previously claimed that more than one million had tuned in to the bout on pay-per-view.

‘Well over a million worldwide,’ he told broadcaster Ariel Helwani. ‘DAZN did extremely well.

‘Sky Sports obviously another great platform as well. The rematch is on another level.’

Plans are already underway ahead of a potential rematch with the rivalry set to continue after Saudi Arabia chief Turki Al-Sheikh revealed a rematch could take place later this year.

‘If they’re not injured and ready, we want the rematch in late September at Tottenham,’ he said.

‘The British fans were amazing and I thank them.’

Meanwhile, after suffering his first career defeat, Benn insisted he wants to take revenge.

‘It’s a hard one to swallow. I didn’t come into the fight thinking it would be that close, I didn’t come in to lose or for anything apart from winning,’ Benn said. ‘I want my revenge.

‘I didn’t think I lost the fight, but I don’t want to be delusional and say I won the fight.’

The weight of the taller Eubank Jr was a key talking point pre-fight after he was slapped with a $500,000 (£375,000) fine for narrowly coming over the 160lb limit.

Eubank Jr had revealed the extraordinary lengths he took to meet the target and his dehydrated appearance at the weigh-in led some to fear that the endeavour could cost him the bout.

Both boxers went to hospital after their brutal battle for precautionary checks, but they have since been released.

Eubank Sr admitted seeing his son in distress took him back to 1991 when his opponent Michael Watson suffered life-changing brain injuries following their brutal bout.

‘It just brought me back all those years ago to think about what Michael went through, and I was feeling and seeing and hearing all of that,’ Eubank Sr explained on his Call Chris Eubank YouTube channel.

‘And I’m saying to myself, people don’t know, but my son is touch and go. And the only way we’re going to know whether he’s going to be okay is after the CT scans.

‘He suffered mostly in the hospital because of dehydration, even though the beating was severe.’
