Reviews of 7-Eleven’s Make-Up Line, Simply Me Beauty

Would you like a bronzer with your Slurpee? Thanks to 7-Eleven, you can now buy make-up in the same store that you buy your late-night snacks.

The convenience store chain has launched Simply Me Beauty, a 40-piece make-up line for the woman on the go.

‘For a millennial working woman wanting to refresh her makeup while grabbing lunch at 7‑Eleven stores, Simply Me Beauty is a welcomed offering and is priced just right for her,’ Joy Pico, 7‑Eleven category manager, said in a press release.

The line includes everything from highlighter and bronzer to lipstick and false lashes and nothing costs more than $5. The question is, is it any good?

Top beauty vloggers like Manny Gutierrez and Tati Westbrook have put the gas station range to the test in recent videos on their YouTube channels. While there were a lot of misses, all found a handful of products that they would pick up again in a pinch while traveling.

Read on below for what Simply Me Beauty products to try – and what to pass by – the next time you’re in 7-Eleven on a frozen drink run.

THE HITS

Lipstick

‘The lipstick is probably the best of the entire brand,’ said Manny, known on YouTube as Manny MUA. ‘It feels comfortable and is not sticky at all.’

The vlogger likes the berry shade Wine the best, which is also the favorite of Tati (‘That is so pretty!’ she said after application) and Nicol Concilio.

Highlighter

‘I think the shade is really nice, I like the way it sits on my skin,’ said Tati, though she did find the powder to be messy.

Nicol was pleasantly surprised at the highlighter’s effect. ‘Oh! That is definitely a glow!’ she said.

Eyeliner

‘This could be one of my favorite liners I’ve ever used,’ said Nicol after creating a thick winged look.

Manny likes how pigmented the formula is and its sleek packaging, while Tati said ‘it gets the job done’.

MISSES

Beauty Sponge

The Beauty Blender-esque tool is each vlogger’s least favorite product because of its firm texture.

‘How can you blend and do what you need to do with a sponge that is that firm?’ Tati said. Manny and Nicol both found that it actually took off their make-up during use.

Concealer

‘This literally looks like mustard…It’s like burning my skin and I’m not sensitive at all,’ said Manny as he applied the concealer under his eyes.

Nicol was also not fond of the yellow undertones and found that the ‘thin and weird formula’ dissolved into her skin even after layering it on.

Bronzer

None of the vloggers were impressed with the two-tone bronzer, but Tati and Nicol were able to make the product work.

Manny, however, wasn’t able to achieve a desirable result. ‘It’s so bad!’ he said. Not only did he find it hard to blend, but he said it looked red on his skin.
