Revolution Fibres beauty product actiVLayr made from FISH SKIN promises younger-looking complexion

Forget snail creams, 24-karat gold face masks and vampire facials – there’s a new beauty product made from fish skin that promises younger-looking complexion.

New Zealand company Revolution Fibres has launched a skincare range called actiVLayr – the anti-wrinkle collagen sheet masks – extracted from hoki fish.

Shaped to go under your eyes, the patches have been ‘clinically proven’ to instantly reduce wrinkles and under-eye darkness in just a matter of days.

The seven-day treatment, retailed at $69.99, is made from a proprietary blend of the country’s natural ingredients, including kiwifruit, grape seed and marine collagen.

The ingredients?

Marine Collagen: The hoki fish provides instant skin tightening due to the naturally skin compatibility.

Vinanza Kiwifruit Extract: Kiwifruit has been clinically shown to decrease trans epidermal water loss and brighten skin.

Vinanza Grape Seed Extract: The grapes have been shown to increase skin elasticity and decrease redness.

Speaking to Sunrise, Revolution Fibres chief executive Iain Hosie said the product has been made purely from marine collagen – so there’s no smell.

‘All the sub-components of the [fish] skin is completely gone. We really just got the collagen and nothing but. There’s no odour,’ he explained.

Mr Hosie said the product works wonders because as soon as the masks hit the wet surface of your face, the fibre of the collagen instantly dissolves, penetrating the skin rapidly.

‘We’ve made the fibres incredibly small, these fibres break down rapidly and it absorbs virtually instantly, and we get deep penetration of the skin,’ he said.

The idea to create the beauty face masks started after the company teamed up with Plant and Food research group.

‘We discovered we could turn the collagen into fibres, and we instantly realised that this fibre was very soluble on the skin so we put the pieces together,’ he explained.

‘We discovered this could be a very good cosmetic product.’

The products are currently sold in Hong Kong and China – but Mr Hosie said they are hoping to sell the range around the world, including Australia within months.

‘Just recently, we’ve got a lot of interest in many, many countries around the world. We’re talking to a number of key distributors in Australia,’ he said.

‘I expect they’ll be in Australia in the next couple of months. We’ve got a few regulatory hurdles to get through, but it should be on the shelves pretty soon.’
