Richard Sherman has slammed the Green Bay Packers, basking in the prospect of the franchise’s downfall post-Aaron Rodgers.

Green Bay finally agreed to a trade with the New York Jets on Monday, sending the four-time MVP to Florham Park, New Jersey, after months of negotations between both camps.

Speaking on his eponymous podcast, Sherman gave the Packers a less than pleasant introduction to a post-Rodgers existence, singling out Jordan Love in the process as well.

‘First off, I don’t think Jordan Love is the quarterback of the future for Green Bay,’ said the Super Bowl XLVIII champion (with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014). You had a great quarterback for 30 years, good job. Welcome to mediocrity.

‘Everybody’s screaming ”well, Aaron Rodgers is done and we’re happy with Jordan Love.” Ok! I can’t wait. I can’t wait. They’re gonna have postcards longing for Aaron Rodgers, a four-time MVP. You will not sniff a Super Bowl. My goodness. It’s such a lack of appreciation.

Richard Sherman sent out a warning to Packers fans after Rodgers’ departure from Green Bay

Sherman said Packers fans were 'ungrateful' towards Rodgers in his final season in Green Bay

‘[…] You know, people are like, ”Whoa, he’s distracted.” He just won MVP the year before! Like leave him alone. I don’t care when he’s doing. Like, they’re ungrateful.’

Sherman pointed to the front office moves pulled by the Jets in order to get the last piece of the puzzle that they’ve been craving for so long this offseason: Rodgers.

‘If I’m [Rodgers], Jets fans, y’all know. Y’all got [Jets offensive coordinator] [Nathaniel] Hackett. ”I know the offense. I’m gonna run the offense. Make sure those receivers have the running routes and know my signals when I get there. I’ll see you guys in training camp. Don’t worry about it. I’m Aaron Rodgers.” He is Aaron Rodgers.’

This season, the Jets will attempt to put an end to their 16-year postseason drought. The Packers, on the other hand, are in rebuilding mode after ending last season with a mediocre eight wins and nine losses with Rodgers as their quarterback, following three previous years of consecutive playoff seasons.

‘I guarantee you that every NFC North team is excited to see Jordan Love. Ecstatic,’ added Sherman, sending out a warning of what’s yet to come for Cheeseheads. I guarantee it, Green Bay Packers. You know nobody will fear you going forward.

‘Understand that there is not a game that somebody’s gonna see the Green Bay Packers in without Aaron Rodgers in the jersey and have fear for you.

‘So congratulations on all your years of like walking into stadiums and having one of the best players on it. You don’t have it anymore. So hate me all you want but understand that you had something great for a long time. You didn’t appreciate him on his way out. Wait and see.

Sherman’s comments come in contrast to Brian Gutekunst’s claims on Monday, just hours after the announcement of Rodgers’ near-completed trade was revealed. The Packers GM said: ‘We were eight and nine last year and as we move forward it was more about what we’re going to do to get better.’

Rodgers said in March he hoped to leave Green Bay in favor of the Jets, who finished last season 7-10 but boast promising young talent including the Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson and Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner.

The trade gives the Jets, who have not reached the post-season in more than a decade, a prime option at quarterback as their 2021 second overall pick Zach Wilson has failed to impress.
