They’ve been dating for less than a year, but sources say wedding bells are chiming for Rita Ora, 31, and her New Zealand director boyfriend Taika Waititi, 46.
Rita travelled with her beau to Australia last month, and insiders say the UK pop-star is now hoping to receive an engagement ring for Christmas.
‘Rita and Taika are head over heels,’ a source close to the couple told The Sun on Monday.

‘From what she says, he’s ‘the one’ for her. None of her mates would be surprised if he popped the question soon.’
The publication also claims that Rita’s parents have already given Taika permission to wed their daughter after meeting him in London.
‘Some people might see that as quite quick but they’ve barely spent a day apart since they got together,’ the friend insisted, calling Taika a ‘grounding, yet fun’ presence in Rita’s life.

Rita recently arrived in Australia with Taika ahead of her scheduled appearance on The Voice Australia 2022.
Her Kiwi boyfriend is also rumoured to be continuing work on several upcoming films during his time Down Under, including Thor: Love and Thunder, which is in post-production.
Rita met the Oscar-winning filmmaker in Australia in February while she was filming The Voice Australia.

A source told The Sun the duo started dating ‘secretly’ in early March, three months before she left Australia for Los Angeles in early June.
‘All their friends know about the relationship – they’re really into each other,’ the insider said at the time.
The couple made their red carpet debut at the LA premiere of The Suicide Squad on August 2.

Days later, a source told New Idea the smitten pair were already discussing the idea of marriage.
‘Taika calls Rita ‘wifey’ all the time and chats about how he’s going to be her first and last husband,’ the insider said at the time.
‘Everyone around them downplays it as flirty banter, but [Rita is] definitely hoping he’s for real,’ they continued, adding that the Hot Right Now star is ‘absolutely obsessed’ with her Oscar-winning beau.

Rita has reportedly started joking about getting married in a ‘quick, hippy-dippy’ Californian ceremony, and then celebrating with a bigger party at a later date.
Taika was previously married to film producer Chelsea Winstanley, but the pair are believed to have quietly split in 2018.
The pair share two daughters, Te Hinekāhu and Matewa Kiritapu.

Rita has meanwhile had several high-profile relationships, yet has never been engaged.
She was previously linked to DJ Calvin Harris, reality star Rob Kardashian, actor Andrew Garfield, songwriter Andrew Watt and singer James Arthur.
Her most recent relationship prior to Taika was with French director Romain Gavras.
The duo sparked engagement rumours in 2020 but they were never confirmed.
The duo called it quits before Christmas last year, with a spokesperson for Romain blaming ‘difficulties with their respective work commitments’ for the split.
