‘I’ll be back sooooon! We both loved exploring and living the Shrek fantasy. Feeling refreshed and recharged.’

The couple have reportedly splashed out on a £5 million mansion in New Zealand after buying a new property in Auckland, according to The Sun.

The sprawling property boasts four-bedrooms, a swimming pool, veranda, private gardens, large garage, sundeck and stunning views across the bay.

The dark grey house is situated on a three-storey clifftop pad and is set on two thirds of an acre, with its own beach access.

A source said: ‘Although Taika and Rita spend a lot of time in and the UK, New Zealand is still a huge part of his identity and their lives together.

‘So having a place they can call home is really important for him and his family.

‘They have already started decorating and buying furniture to fit the space. They can’t wait to spend some time there.’

MailOnline contacted Rita and Taika’s representatives for further comment.

Last weekend Taika appeared on Jimmy Fallon to promote his new film The Next Goal Wins, based on the true story of American Samoa football team’s attempts to improve its status as a worldwide laughingstock.

After the pair played a game with Jimmy hilariously involving baseball bats and blue footballs, the presenter asked the star: ‘How is our pal Rita Ora? How’s Rita doing?’

To which Taika says: ‘She’s good. She’s no longer my pal, she’s my wife, now.’ With Jimmy hitting him playfully and saying: ‘Oh, congratulations!’
