Road rage horror as a person is stabbed with a PEN on a busy highway in Sydney’s south

A person has been stabbed with a pen in a road rage incident on a busy highway in Sydney’s south.

Police said emergency services were call to Southern Cross Drive at Mascot at about 3.25pm following reports the driver of a garbage truck was allegedly assaulted with a pen by the driver of another vehicle.

The driver of the garbage truck – a 49-year-old man – was taken to hospital for superficial injuries to his arm.

Two southbound lanes on Southern Cross Drive between General Holmes Drive and Botany Road have been closed to traffic. 

Two of three lanes have reopened but drivers have been advised to allow extra time for travel and to exercise caution.

Police said they are looking for the driver of a silver Kia Carnivale wagon.
