Rob Lowe, 59, reveals his secrets to looking so young after working nearly five decades as a Hollywood star

Rob Lowe appears to have found his own personal fountain of youth.

The actor, now 59, attributes his youthful looks, in part, on getting a proper amount of sleep for his mind and body, according to USA Today‘s new series The Essentials.

During his podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe, the former Brat Pack star also credited his shut-eye schedule as crucial to maintaining his fresh-faced appearance.

‘I get tons of sleep. Like, an embarrassing amount,’ Lowe revealed, although he stopped short of listing the amount of hours he tends to sleep on a regular basis.

‘I don’t want people to think something is wrong with me. It’s a lot of sleep, not 12 hours. But if there’s ever 12 (hours) to be had, I’m taking it,’ he added.

Rob Lowe, who turns 60 on March 17, has shown to be an ageless wonder after a nearly five-decade career in Hollywood

Good, solid, rest is so important to the new host of The Floor that he rests up in his car in between filming.

‘I have it down to a science. The eye mask, the Bose noise-cancelling headphones. And I’m gone,’ Lowe said of his quick transformation to REM sleep mode.

Along with restful sleep, Lowe is also very aware of his carbohydrate and sugar intake, which is why he’s been an avid follower and spokesperson for the Adkins diet, which has helped him stay lean and fit as he approaches 60.

He has been doing Atkins since his 30’s, some 25 years before he started working with the company by being the face of Atkins in commercials.

‘It makes a big difference. You’re only as good as what you eat,’ he said.

Lowe celebrated 33 years of sobriety in May and is thankful for the people in his life who helped set him on the path of what he calls his ‘grateful journey’ in life.

Along with feeling better mentally, Lowe reminds fans that abstaining from alcohol is incredible for your physical health.

‘I haven’t had a drink in 33 years. That’s a huge thing, even beyond recovery,’ he emphasized, noting the calories and bloat he is avoiding.

Rob also added that he keeps a gratitude list and prays.

‘And, you know, it’s all of of it. Some things never change. It’s, you know, my family our health, my sobriety, And then I go into , you know, my dogs and my, the ability to do a job that I love.’

He then touched on his decades-long marriage to wife Sheryl Berkoff and how they’ve been ‘best friends’ since saying ‘I, Do’ in 1991.

‘It’s sort of won and lost right there. Sheryl was always and remains my best friend. No matter what.

‘There are good days and bad days. But no matter what, you’ve chosen your best friend,’ he gushed.

Lowe made his feature film debut in The Outsiders (1983), which also starred such young actors dubbed the Brat Pack such as C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Leif Garrett.

The father of two currently stars in the drama series 9-1-1: Lone Star, and most recently starred in the biographical drama film Dog Gone in January 2023.
