- Bayern Munich drew 0-0 with Sevilla and won 2-1 on aggregate
- Barcelona knocked out by Roma, who won on away goals despite first leg deficit
- Arjen Robben believes Bayern can prevail in Champions League and DFB-Pokal
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has revealed that Barcelona’s shock Champions League exit served as a warning to his side against Sevilla on Wednesday.
Despite leading 3-0 from the first leg, Barcelona were knocked out on Tuesday by Roma, who prevailed on away goals, with the tie ending 3-3 on aggregate.
Bayern had a 2-1 advantage going into their second leg against Sevilla but managed to go through as the game ended goalless.
Arjen Robben helped Bayern Munich to progress to the Champions League semi-finals
As reported by Four Four Two, Robben said: ‘Of course that was a warning. It shows that everything can happen in football.
‘If you play at this level, you need a top performance. That will be the case in the semi-final.
‘We are now in the semi-finals in the Champions League and in the DFB-Pokal. We have to go a bit further.
‘In the semi-finals there are no favourites. We have to see who we get tied up with and then prepare well. There are only good teams left.’

Bayern are renowned for playing dynamic, attacking football but they also had to be resilient defensively against Sevilla, who had Joaquin Correa sent off late on.
‘From the outside, maybe 2-1 away felt as if it was almost done but we knew that they have a good team,’ Robben added.
‘In the first half we had some trouble in midfield. Then they have quality and they can play.
‘They had a few chances. In the end we had more chances, but what was missing was a goal. We should have scored a goal.’
Bayern have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title and, in addition to the Champions League, they will also hope for glory in the DFB-Pokal, in which they will take on Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals.
Robben has yet to score in the Champions League this season, but the Dutchman could have a major part to play in the latter stages of the competition.
