Terrified workers ran screaming from the scene and the shop owner reportedly checked his chest for bullets after the shooting was over.

No one else was injured despite the pair, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, allegedly confronting workers.

The shop is on a small strip with a car park in front and next door to a cafe and a pharmacy along with other businesses.

Homicide Squad detectives will investigate the incident on behalf of the coroner, police said.

As per standard protocol following a police shooting, Professional Standards Command members will oversee the investigation.
